Apple’s ‘iWatch’ , Coming Late 2014

The iWatch murmurings among analysts are growing and from the din a price and release date have been heard. The bad news is you'll have to wait until the second half of 2014 to strap-up with an iWatch. But the good news is it should cost $150 (£97) to $230.

According to a CIMB analyst, Inventec expects to land 60 per cent of orders for the Apple iWatch which will be released in the second half of 2014. The analyst claims it will be bought by people to replace theiriPods, suggesting it's supplementary to the iPhone, not a replacement.

Expectations are high for its popularity with shipments planned to reach 63.4 million devices in 2014. But with Apple sharing the market with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Gear and the Sony Smartwatch 2 it should be a battle for popularity.

With phone replacement watches like the Omate TrueSmart doing well on Kickstarter there is every chance phones could be replaced all together. But we'll have to wait and see.
